Inquiry Reflection

My question for the inquiry project was "is keeping the public censored from major events a good idea? Is it better to keep them informed or safe?" My assumption was that most people would want to know the details about major events, however, based on the research that I conducted, most people want just the opposite. One aspect about this inquiry that I found challenging was, determining when to use certain information. I did not know whether some of the research I conducted was necessary or just interesting. For example, "is my question persuasive if I use a survey?". If I were to do this project again, I would try to list a few key elements that could help the viewers develop their own opinion. For example, the division between what the school thought versus what society thinks. A connection that I can make with my own life is that whenever I watch TV, I notice that a lot of what is being said is censored out, such as vulgarity. I think that the government should not be the ones to decide what we can and cannot hear or see. It is up to each of us as individuals. Furthermore, I would like to research interesting stories/opinions that other people have regarding this topic; whether or not someone else has been greatly effected by the news and censorship. A question that I would like to conduct research on now would be, "how does the government decide what will be censored? Who has the vote in deciding this?"
